THE AMERICAN TEACHER ACT

The Teacher Salary Project introduced the American Teacher Act‬‭ in the 117th and‬‭ 118th Congress in collaboration with‬ Representative Frederica Wilson (which then inspired the Pay Teachers Act by Sen. Bernie‬ Sanders, which triples Title I funding to raise minimum teacher salaries to $60k, and 30+ pieces‬ of state legislation). In April 2023, the American Teacher Act became a bipartisan bill as Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-1) became the first Republican co-sponsor of the bill.
